The government of Uganda considers education a basic human right. Participating in education is also viewed as part of the solution to reducing poverty. The government is dedicated to providing equitable access to quality and affordable education to all Ugandans. The education sector in Uganda is constrained by many challenges. These include a high level of teacher and student absenteeism, weak school level management structures, inadequate availability of learning materials, and large class sizes. A major issue is also the availability of teachers in disadvantaged areas and a lack of accommodation for teachers in rural, hard to reach areas.
However the underlying and structural causes of non-realization of children’s rights to education include: shortage of qualified, teachers; low teacher motivation; inadequate school infrastructure that includes toilets and water points; shortage of teaching and learning materials; weak capacity of communities to demand quality education; inadequate provision for children with special learning needs; limited teacher time on task and weak supervision arrangements; among others. The pupils are still facing challenges of meeting educational needs.
Our strategic intervention is to support the child to get access to quality education for future sustainability, Our focus will be put to emphasis on life skills to children in schools in different parts of the country, work on quality assurance, and offering skill base training support to youth and orphans.
Although Uganda children are supported by UPE and USE, still after the ordinary level children fail to continue to tertiary level, due to lack of tuition by parents because of not being familiar with paying fees, this situation make children to drop out of school, so these children need to be supported with skill based training to become job creators for their self-sustainability.
